4 steps to a tidy bedroom
Keeping your bedroom tidy is a constant uphill struggle for some, and a natural thing to do for others. No matter which of these camps you fall in to, it is a good thing to have a tidy bedroom, as it is simply more relaxing that way. It is proven that your mind is clear and more able to focus and concentrate if you are in a tidy environment, and even if you do not need to focus too hard in your bedroom, why not have that as a general feeling in the place that you wake up in in the morning? Ensuring that you get out of the bed on the right side could well be down to putting your clothes away every day, so have a look over the following steps for tidying the bedroom!
1. Make the bed.
Given that the bed takes up a considerable amount of surface area in the bed room, you should certainly try to make a habit of making it up every morning. Whilst some people go for a bizarre array of pillows and cushions, that make the bed hardly usable, you can simply lay the duvet flat and plump up your pillows, for an immediate effect. This little action can make the whole room feel more tidy immediately, especially if it is a small one. The difficulty comes of course if your bed is constantly covered in clothing! In which case, knock it off of the bed, make the duvet up, and attend to the clothing afterwards.
2. Get rid of things that don’t belong.
If you err the kind of person who eats in their room, then you may well also be the kind of person who has plates and mugs lying around in their room. Their is of course nothing wrong with this, unless you allow them to stack up and become a problem. Get rid of everything that does not belong in your room, and deposit it exactly where it should be, preferably without making further mess in other rooms. You will find that this is another transformative process, as removing the extraneous items from the room will reduce the clutter and unsightly nature of the room very quickly.
3. Put away your clothes.
Every item of clothing should have a space. You can’t rely on some of your clothes to be in the wash in order for everything to be put away, and if you are, then it is time to get some more storage, or lose some clothing. Chucking out or donating clothing is difficult, but most people only wear a certain amount of items per season, so identify what you don’t really wear, and get rid of it, or put it in the attic! Again, getting clothes up off of the floor or the bed will do a lot for the room as a whole, so it is an important part of the tidying process, and one that you can keep up even when you are not in the midst of a tidy.
4. Throw away rubbish, and do a final clear round.
Aside form the items mentioned above, the last steps tend to revolve around simply putting things away, much like the clothes. You should have space for everything that you own, and to be able to get them tidied away nicely, without much hassle. Wires and leads should be rolled and tied, and books should have shelf space. Obviously the contents of everyone’s bedroom is different, and you will have to make up your own mind as to where your belongings go.
